SESAME – JORDAN, NEW GUEST HOUSE UNDER CONSTRUCTION

Synchrotron-light for Experimental Science and Applications in the Middle East (SESAME) is an international scientific research centre situated in Jordan.  Up and running since its inauguration last year, the centre was lacking an internal facility to accommodate researchers and guests coming for short-term visits.  INTEGRA AES, already active in Jordan, is leading a joint venture with a well-established local partner to supervise the construction of SESAME guest house. The new building is designed to contain 50 bedrooms and a cafeteria, which will significantly improve the life on the campus. It will be located at a very short walking distance from the experimental facility in order to allow the researchers to have an easy round-the-clock access to the experiments.

SESAME is the first Physics Institute with a particle accelerator in the Middle-East. It is located in a strategic position for its members (Jordan, Cyprus, Egypt, Iran, Israel, Pakistan, Palestine and Turkey) who work alongside other international organizations including the Italian National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN). The Italian Ministry of Education is financing the construction and the supervision of the guest house as an application of the scientific collaboration agreement between INFN and SESAME.
